Center House –Summer 2008

Center House, a project of The Center in Asbury Park, opened in December 2006. Center House is supportive housing for 25 single adults living with HIV/AIDS and formerly chronically homeless. At present, in the summer of 2008, we have 24 residents and soon will fill the empty apartment. Since opening, we have housed 33 folks.
Center House provides a complete efficiency apartment for each person including a full kitchen and bath. In addition each apartment is fully furnished, including a microwave and TV. Each individual moves into an apartment which is equipped with dishes, pots and pans, new linens and towels and a pantry stocked with the essentials.

Each resident is also offered three meals a day in our resident dining room if they choose not to cook for themselves. These meals are free of charge.
A beautiful courtyard with a pond and fountain and a gazebo offers a restful peaceful place to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Center House also is offering a few programs for the residents:

  • We are blessed to have an artist who provides a workshop each week for those interested to explore their artistic side;
  • We offer a creative writing program helping the residents to tell their story;
  • We have a quilt making project – some of the quilts already made adorn the walls!
  • We offer computer classes in our library.
  • Our Wellness Program offers Reiki, Massage and Accupunture to residents and clients of The Center in Asbury Park.

Come and visit The Center and Center House and see how you can help us create a home, a place of peace. Help us live our Mission.
